Obituary of James Ernest MacKay
James Ernest "Ernie" MacKay age 92 of Coalburn passed away Monday December 2nd in the Aberdeen Hospital surrounded by his heartbroken family. He was the son of the late James and Ella Mackay of Stellarton.
Ernie was a Past Grand Master of Canada of the Loyal True Blue Association, also Past Provincial Grand Master of the Loyal Orange Lodge of Nova Scotia. He spent most of his working life as a truck driver/salesman for several tire companies in Pictou County and in his spare time did autobody repair and painting. Ernie also enjoyed camping well into his 80's and was a lifetime member of the Good Sam Camping Club.
Survived by his wife of 46yrs Diana and his children - son Gerry (Maricar) MacKay, daughters - Shirley (Tim) MacKay, Myra (Robert) Wilson and Terri MacKay. Also his sister Winnifred Williams, sister-in-law Pat MacKay, sister-in-law Donna (Leonard) Fraser, mother-in-law Edna Scott (UK), brother-in-law David Scott (UK. Grandchildren - Amanda, Matt, Gabe, Corey and Colby, and several great grand children, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, son Brian, brothers Roland and John MacKay, sister Dorothy Honisch and first wife Theresa Munsie.
As per his request no visitation or funeral service and Cremation has taken place under the direction of Eagle's Funeral Home Westville. There will be a family committal in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens at a later date. Donations can be made to the Salvation Army Corps Westville or charity of your choice. The family wishes to thank the VON Home Care Nurses and Kari from Nurse Next Door for their continue care and support over the past 2 years.
