Obituary of Cecil Myers

Cecil Edward "Denny" Myers, age 89, of Coll Avenue, Stellarton, passed away on Friday, May 10, 2019 in the Aberdeen Hospital, with his loving family by his side.

Born in Stellarton, on February 7, 1930, he was a son of the late William and Anna (Duff) Myers.

Cecil joined the Canadian Armed Forces, where he served in various places including Germany in the 1950's before returning to Stellarton. He was a miner, having worked in coal mines in Stellarton, Thorburn, and retiring from the Drummond Mine, Westville. Although he liked to hunt and fish as a sport, his greatest enjoyment was spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

He will be dearly missed by his daughters, Thelma McClanahan (Ron), Virginia; Joan Bezanson (Carl), New Glasgow; Beatrice MacDonald (Kevin), Thorburn; Helen Naugle (Howard), Thorburn; Pauline Cooper (Fred), Stellarton; Irene Rikardson (JanTore), New Glasgow; grandchildren, Jennifer Pettipas (Greg), Tanya MacKenzie (Donnie); Frank Hawes (Courtney); Dennis Hawes; Cecil Myers; Howard Naugle (Julie); Sarah Naugle (Mike); Veronica Crowther (Kevin); Fred Cooper; Amanda Myers; and Danielle Myers; several great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Margaret "Maggie" Halliday (Allie); sisters-in-law Margaret Ohrling; Juanita Forbes (Jim); Beatrice Lochead; Irene O’Donnell (Joe); and close friend Doug Ince.

He was predeceased by his wife Beatrice (Lochead); infant son John; grandson Bradley Crowther; infant grandson Frank Eric Crowther; sons-in-law Wilson Crowther and Brent MacDonald; sisters Ruth, Margaret, and Edith, and brother Bill.

Cecil rested at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville with visiting on Saturday, May 11 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. His funeral service was held 2 o’clock Sunday, May 12 from Eagles Funeral Chapel, Westville with Rev. Charles MacPherson officiating. Burial was in the Auburn Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to Aberdeen Palliative Care Society.
