Obituary of Nettie Conway

Nettie Blanche Conway, age 74 of Westville, passed away on Monday, April 30, 2018 in the Halifax Infirmary, with her husband and son by her side.

Born in Sydney Mines on November 29th, 1943, Nettie was a daughter of the late Elmer “Tink” and Winnie (Jackson) Lowe, Westville.

Nettie (Sis) was a proud and doting grandmother, never missing an opportunity to boast about her family. She was a stay home mom, raising one husband, two boys, five grandchildren and a chubby dog named Sammy. Nettie was known by her kid’s friends as the cool mom; always good for a laugh and making sure no one was ever left out. She cared about people, always helping to make others’ lives better. The door was always open and the table was always set. Nettie spent her spare time baking for her sons catering business, spent years as a member of her Anglican Church group helping hands. She loved traveling with her husband even going as far as spending a month in Turkey to visit her eldest son’s family. It’s not easy to write and express everything in an obituary, but we can honestly say that our mom was a loving mother and wife that will truly and will be deeply been missed.

Nettie will be dearly grieved by her husband of 50 years, William “Bill”; her dear sons, Steven (wife, Filiz), living in Turkey & Jason (partner, Annie Desbiens), living in New Glasgow; daughter-in-law, Patricia Hayden and her precious grandchildren, Jarrah, Jordan, Liam, Hannah and Jonah; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Phillip, Mary, Stan and Gerard Conway & Isabel Lowe; several nieces, nephews and friends.

She was predeceased by her brother Clifford “Curly” Lowe.

Her family received friends at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville with visiting on Friday, April 4th from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Her funeral service was held at 11am Saturday, April5th at Eagles Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Darlene Jewers officiating. Interment was in the Auburn Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to The Cancer Society - Nova Scotia Division or the The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia (heartandstroke.ca)
