Obituary of Russell Rae

The death of Russell Fulton Rae, 86, of Oxford, occurred at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre on Wednesday, October 21, 2015. Born in Six Mile Brook, Pictou County, Russell was a son of the late Elmer and Anna (Barry) Rae. Russell will always be remembered as a gentle and peaceful soul. Russell will be sadly missed by his partner of 35 years, Sigrid Wood, Oxford; a daughter, Donna (Smith MacLean) Rae, Pictou; Sigrid's children, Kevin and Edward Wood, and Velma (Marcus) Jeffers; her grandchildren, Patrick and Tyler Wood and great grandchildren, Rebecca MacDonald, Leland MacDonald, Liam and Samantha Wood, as well as a sister, Margaret (Roy) Rushton ; sisters-in-law, Dawn MacLeod and Margaret MacKay; brothers-in-law, Sheldon and Milford MacLeod. Besides his parents, Russell was predeceased by his wife, Joyce (nee MacLeod); sisters, Clara MacKay , Mildred Fergus and Norma Rae; brothers, George, Clarence, Clifford and Sherwin Rae, as well as two siblings in infancy. Honoring Russell's wishes, his remains have been cremated. His funeral service was held from Eagles Funeral Chapel, Westville, on Saturday, October 24. Burial was in Gladstone Cemetery.
