Frances “Robbie” Thompson , 90 of Westville passed away on Sunday, December 28, 2014 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born August 8, 1924 in Rocklin, Pictou County, she was a daughter of late Harold and Christine (Marshall) Robinson. Frances who was known to her family and friends as "Robbie" lived in Lansdowne, Pictou County in her younger years. She was a Registered Nurse having trained at the former Aberdeen Hospital School of Nursing. Frances worked several years with the VON in New Glasgow, a year in Amherst Hospital and 15 years at the Victoria General Hospital , Halifax. In 1973, returning to Pictou County, she worked at the Aberdeen Hospital and Private Duty Nursing. Frances was a member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Westville and the Barbara MacKenzie Auxiliary and Guild; 50 plus year Member of the Alumnae of the Aberdeen Hospital; the Retired Employees Association of NS; The Arthritic Association of Pictou County Branch; a Past Matron and member of Westville Chapter # 24, O.E.S. and a Past District Deputy Grand Matron. For the past two years, Frances was a resident of Glen Haven Manor. “Robbie” is survived by a son, Bill A. (Beth); grandson, Christopher (Joanne); granddaughter, Cindy; great grandson, Riley; special family, David & Arlene MacRae, Matthew and Daniel, Lyons Brook; brothers in law Allister Thompson,Westville, John ( Jan) Thompson, Middleton and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband William "Bill"; sister, Isabel MacKay, and foster sister, Doris Barber. Cremation has taken place. Her family will receive visitors on Tuesday from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. The Order of The Eastern Star will conduct a service on Tuesday at 6:30 at the Funeral Home. Her memorial service will be held 2 o'clock Wednesday from St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Westville with Rev. Bonnie Wynn officiating. Interment will be in the Auburn Cemetery.
