Helen Christina(MacLaren) Marshall, 87, of Hazel Glen, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 in the Palliative Care Unit, Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in New Glasgow on January 5, 1924, Helen was the eldest daughter of the late Mysie (MacMillan) and Thomas MacLaren. Helen is survived by, and was a devoted wife to her husband, Henry, of 63 years; Beloved mother to Judy(Dale) Migel, Timberlea; Nancy (Gerald) Jones, Westville; Jim (Susan), Charlottetown, PEI. She is also survived by brothers Allister and Gordon, Hazel Glen; sister, Margaret Chittick, Dartmouth; and brother-in-law Richard MacEwan. She was a wonderful Nanny to her five cherished grandchildren, Stephanie, Kristina, Nicole, Andrew, and Tarhen; and her two great grandchildren, Hannah and Cameron. Helen was very proud of her children and grandchildren. Helen had numerous nieces and nephews. Besides Helen’s parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Ruth MacEwan, brother-in-law Donald Chittick and infant grandson, Nicholas. A private family funeral was held. Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Helen’s name to the Pictou County VON or the Palliative Care Unit at the Aberdeen Hospital.
