Obituary of Raymond Howard Johnson
The death of Raymond Howard Johnson occurred on Dec 21 2024 (1242pm), at home surrounded by his loving family. He had Christmas dinner the evening prior with all his loved ones. He was born Oct 4, 1968.
Survived by his wife of 32 years, Jane(Thibeau); Sons: Andrew - Granton; Adam - Dartmouth; Sister: Jo-Anne (Norm) - Vancouver BC.; Darlene (Monte) - Washington State; Brother-in-law: Mark (Jennifer) - New Glasgow; Mother-in-law: Marion MacNeil - Westville; Step-Mother: Nancy - Granton; Step-Brother: Mark - Vancouver BC; Nephews: Corey - Vancouver BC, Justin and Kevin - Stellarton; Extra special Aunt: Gloria Turnbull- Stellarton
Ray attended school in Stellarton and Westville. He graduated from NSCC Stellarton, and Ashworth University for carpentry.
Ray worked the family business, Johnson's Recycling and worked contracting at Michelin Tire for years with his brother and father.
Most recently he enjoyed the project desk at Kent . He worked for 20 years at Kent (previously Central Home Improvement Center) before retiring early at age 53 to pursue his love of Carpentery. Sadly seven months later he was discovered to have a rare and relentless Sarcoma Cancer.
He never gave up. He never complained. All the while enjoying every minute he could.
Ray was always full of love and laughter. He enjoyed making people laugh, even right to his final moments. He was forever willing to lend a hand to someone in need. He loved the simple things in life.
Ray's most favorite enjoyment was spending time with family and his loyal German Shepherd Earl.
He is predeceased by Mother: Marilyn (Davidson), Father: Garfield, Brother: Kevin, Step-nephew: Bradley Vacheresse, Step-brothers: Jay and Michael MacPherson, Father-in-law: Cecil MacNeil.
Special thanks to Dr Pat Craig and Dr Cheryl Smith along with all the chemotherapy unit staff (RN's,Admin supports, Alice, & Ruby) . Thanks to Dr. Horton, Dr. Kwasnik, Debbie Williams,Rachel MacDonald and all the Palliative Care unit staff.
Ray received amazing care at the Aberdeen Emergency many times over the past 21 months. Thank you to all the staff there.
Thank you to Dr. Colwell, Dr. Knapp, and Dr. Nolan in Halifax and Dr. Razak in Toronto. Ray received wonderful care from Northern Home Healthcare and VON.
Special thanks to the staff at Lawtons Drug Store in Westville. Darren Blackadar, NP, has been absolutely amazing throughout this journey. His kindness and compassion goes beyond words .
Ray was loved by many and never will be forgotten. He made friends and lasting memories every where he went.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Eagles Funeral Home Westville.
Family flowers only.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Halifax Haven 5897 Inglis St Halifax, NS. B3H 1K7.(halifaxhaven@gmail.com) A wonderful place where Ray and Jane stayed and loved when Ray needed care at the Halifax hospital.
Visitation will be Friday, Dec 27th 2-4 and 7-9 . Funeral Service will be Saturday, Dec 28th at 2pm from First Presbyterian Church New Glasgow, where Ray and Jane were married, Burial will be in Mount William Cemetery at a later time.
Cremation has taken place as Ray's wishes.
