Obituary of Elizabeth Ann "Libby" Jenkins
Age 74 of Sylvester, peacefully passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2024, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in Halifax, she was the daughter of the late George and Mary (Amaro) Landry.
At a young age, Libby started working at the Clairtone plant in Stellarton, along side several of her family members. After this she began her food services career, at the Coffee Pot in New Glasgow. It was here that she was introduced to the love of her life, Roy, by her good friend Shirley.
Two years later, on Valentine’s Day 1970, the two young lovebirds became husband and wife. Roy and Libby were inseparable for over 54 years. They loved to go camping in their earlier years and rides on the motorbike after this. Visiting her granddaughters was one of Libby’s favorite things to do.
Libby is survived by her “Hunny” Roy; daughter Lynn (Randall); son Jason (Doreen); granddaughters, Madison, Lauren, Emily and Katie; sisters, Dorothy (Donnie) Campbell, Westville and Shirley Landry, Dartmouth. Other family members include Gloria Carr, Sandra (Sandy) Jenkins, Ginny Aitken and many good friends who are like family.
Libby was predeceased by her twin brother Robert Landry and sister Barb Brown.
Arrangements and cremation have been entrusted to Eagles Funeral Home in Westville. Burial will take place at Heatherdale Memorial Gardens in Sylvester. In keeping with Libby's wishes a Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or the Canadian Cancer Society.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all the people who helped Libby throughout her battle with Dementia and Cancer in both New Glasgow and Halifax; and to the Palliative Care Team at the Aberdeen Hospital who were so kind and caring during her final days.
