It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our son, Christopher William Thompson on June 3,2024 in the University of Alberta Hospital, Edmonton, AB following a fatal car accident near Clyde, Westlock County, Alberta while evacuating from Fort McMurray due to wildfires.
Born at the Grace Maternity Hospital, Halifax, NS on March 24, 1970 to M. Elizabeth "Beth" and William A. " Bill" Thompson. Chris was a brother to Cindy Louise "Thompson" Swinamer.
He is survived by parents, Bill and Beth Thompson, his partner, Susan Webster, Fort McMurray, formally of Truro, NS, sister, Cindy Thompson, nephew, Riley Thompson (Jadelyn Lynch), grand niece, Brinley Thompson and his four cats, Pepper, Hunter, Lexie and Macy.
Chris was employed with the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo for 15 years and the staff at the Recycling and Landfill knew Chris as "the Morale Officer". Previous to that, Chris worked as a lumber grader at McTara Lumber Mill in Musquodoboit and drove for a short time with King Freight Lines.
He achieved his "bucket list" of playing poker at Las Vegas, Calgary and Vancouver in special tournaments and love to play with friends in Fort McMurray as a past time.
