Obituary of Roy Allen MacCulloch

In Loving Memory of Roy Allen MacCulloch
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Roy Allen MacCulloch, who departed from this world on April 9, 2024. Roy was born on May 31, 1941, to Seymour and Sarah MacCulloch. Preceding him in death were his beloved parents, Seymour and Sarah, as well as his cherished brothers Leonard (Anne) MacCulloch and Harvey (Doris) MacCulloch.

Roy's presence in this world was a beacon of warmth and kindness, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him. His memory will forever be treasured by his surviving relatives, including his brother Harold (Priscilla) MacCulloch, sisters Charlotte (Donnie) Dixon, Carol (John) Munro, and Leona (Mike) Tracey, and many nieces and nephews.

Throughout his life, Roy's gentle spirit and compassionate nature endeared him to all who had the privilege of crossing his path. His unwavering devotion to family was evident in the countless moments shared and cherished together. Whether gathered around the dinner table or embarking on adventures, Roy's presence illuminated the lives of his loved ones.

On June 8, 1966, Roy married the love of his life, Jacqueline, embarking on a journey of love and companionship that spanned over five decades. Together, they raised their family and shared countless memories that became the foundation of their enduring bond.

Roy was a devoted father to his children: Anthony (Connie), Susan (Jason), Richard and Tanya and a loving grandfather to Laura, Justin, Michael-Roy, Jackie, Elli, and Jacob. Great joy was found in the laughter and love shared with his grandchildren, who were a light in his life.

Throughout his career, Roy's dedication and hard work were evident in every endeavour he pursued. He spent years at Tidewater Construction before joining Michelin Tires, where he remained until his retirement in 1995. Even in retirement, Roy's passion for craftsmanship and automobiles led him to Hector Shaw's auto detailing company, where he found joy in his work and camaraderie with his colleagues.

A man of many talents and interests, Roy's love for cars, music, and animals was surpassed only by his passion for fixing and building things. His ingenuity and resourcefulness were matched only by his playful spirit and penchant for practical jokes, bringing laughter and joy to all who knew him.

In his final years, Roy returned to the family homestead in Mt. Thom, where he found solace and peace surrounded by the memories of his youth and new memories with his wife and family. Though his physical presence may be gone, Roy's spirit lives on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.

Roy will be remembered not only for his hard work and dedication but also for his boundless love and unwavering commitment to his family. His legacy of kindness and generosity will continue to inspire all who were touched by his presence.

Special thanks extend to Kim Cyr, whose compassionate at-home care and friendship brought solace and comfort to Roy during his final years. Additionally, heartfelt appreciation is extended to the dedicated staff of The Aberdeen Hospital, especially those on the 4th floor and in the palliative care unit, for their exceptional care and support during Roy's time of need. Your kindness and professionalism made a profound difference and will forever be remembered by Roy's loved ones.As we mourn the loss of a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, we take comfort in the knowledge that Roy's spirit will forever guide and protect us. May he rest in eternal peace, knowing he was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.

A celebration of Roy's life will be held Thursday April 18th at 11am, at St. Lukes United Church, Salt Springs in remembrance of the joy and love he brought into this world.

I saw the light, I saw the light
No more darkness, no more night
Now I'm so happy,
no sorrow in sight Praise the Lord,
I saw the light
