Mary Lou never ceased to amaze us with her memory. If we couldn't remember a name or birthday, lets ask Mary Lou. She always called us on our birthdays and then ask about family and friends. We have lots of fond memories of her and her mom.
Our sympathy to your family,
Stephen and Anna Demetre

Our family knew Mary Lou & her mother going back to the times of the old People's Church. I remember times when my sister & I & Colleen M. would go to their house on Saturday evenings to watch videos & eat pizza. Mary Lou always remembered our birthdays, & later years would ask me about all our family members by name. She contacted me once in a while on Messenger to have a chat. She is enjoying all the good that heaven has to offer, & will be greatly missed. This message from Carla & Anne & the Spicer family.

Mary Lou's family,
I have many fond memories of Mary Lou. She was a very sweet and friendly person who would always remember me when I would meet her and Susie out shopping. I received thoughtful cards from her when my siblings and husband, Bobby, passed away. My condolences to Billy. I think back with happiness on our time growing up together on Black Brook Road. With love, Peg (Jack) Fraser.

I was part of a musical group that entertained at Shady Oaks for many years. Mary Lou was always either the welcoming host or the designated thank you person. We all loved Mary Lou, who knew her music and who wasnt shy about making requests. If we didnt know it, we made sure we learned it before the next gig. 4 of our 6 member group have crossed over and will be waiting for her at at the Golden gate. Johnny Walsh, Sandy Humphreys, Jimmy Haggart, and George Spalding , along with her friends from Shady Oaks, Larry, Leo, And Mary Ann will be happy to see her.
I knew she used to go to Calgary to visit her brother, Billy. What I didnt realize was that her brother was a very good high school friend of mine. Condolences to you Billy and to your family.
Rest in peace Mary Lou. We will all miss you !

So sorry to hear of Mary Lou's passing. We spent many hours together doing puzzles and talking. I also knew her since she lived with her Mom on Albert St. Susan and Mary Lou attended the same church as my family when we were young and she memorized everyone of my 8 person family's birthdays and never missed to wish us a happy birthday on our given days. I saw her in Foodland and she always called me Sander and said I know you are having a birthday soon. I called her Mary Dooper and she would laugh. I will miss this sweet soul but am thankful of God's promise of a great reunion day. She was so devastated when my dad passed and had to call and give her condolences. Forever loved and remembered. <3

I was so saddened to hear of Mary Lou's passing. I met Mary Lou when I was around 12 years old when she lived on Albert Street in New Glasgow. One of my dearest friends lived in the apartment above the MacLaughlins so I got to see Mary Lou a lot. Mary Lou always had a smile. She was sweet, kind and polite person. Her memory was remarkable. I seen her at times over the years, and the last time I talked to her was in the hospital a few weeks ago and she knew me with my mask on and called me by my name. Now this is almost 50 years later. She will certainly be missed. My sincere condolences to her family and friends.

Heartfelt condolences to all who loved Mary Lou. Mary Lou and I were little girls in grade primary together at Blue Mountain School. She was a sweet and gentle soul when she was a little girl and that never changed. We didn’t see each other for a long time but when we did she asked for my mom and dad and brother. I loved it when we would run into each other and she would tell me about going to visit Billy in Alberta. Rest easy my friend.

I am so sorry for your loss, Mary Lou was a special, thoughtful, kind person who always had a cheerful greeting for folks she knew...and she knew a lot of people. How she remembered my birthday I will never know...but it sure was nice to hear her warm wishes. I am a blessed person for knowing Mary Lou.
