Obituary of Eileen Emery

Eileen Margaret Emery of Durham, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 in the Oddfellows Home, Pictou with her son by her side.

Born March 5, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Stewart and Caroline MacLean.

She began her teaching career in Saltsprings and then Pictou Landing, retiring at Frank H. Elementary after 40 years.  Eileen loved the children she taught just like one of her own.  She was an avid bowler and was a great volunteer and on the Board of Managers of the Ladies Guild of Durham Presbyterian Church.  She was a member and secretary of Fountain Rebekah Lodge #11.  Eileen had a great wit and sense of humour.  Always had a come back!  In her younger years Eileen and Brent enjoyed camping.  She never missed Aubrey’s horse competitions.  For those closest to her heart, she will be deeply missed.  

Eileen will be dearly missed by her son Aubrey (Jackie); sister Dorothy Lochead; sister-in-law Patricia Emery; nieces Heather Fillier (Paul), Helen Fraser (Derick); nephews, David Lochead (Catherine), Mike Lochead (Debbie) and David Emery (Tracy).  She is also survived by many great nieces and nephews.

Eileen was predeceased by her husband Brenton Edward; sister Helen MacLean; brothers-in-law George Lochead and Les Emery; and nephew Darryl Lochead.

Her funeral service will be held 1 o’clock Sunday from Eagles Funeral Chapel, Westville with Rev. Mary Ann Grant officiating.  Seating is limited.  Pre-registration is required to attend.   To register please call 902-396-4144.   Masks are required.
