Obituary of James "Jim" Langille
James Kenneth Frederick Langille, age 67, of Truro, formerly of New Glasgow and Westville passed away peacefully at the Colchester Hospital on February 7, 2021.
Born in New Glasgow on October 28, 1953 to James Edward and Muriel Mary (Weatherby) Langille.
Jim excelled in sports and had a brilliant mind with numbers which lead him to St. Mary’s University for a course of study. Jim worked with Collins Barrow early in his career and decided to stretch his wings into municipal government. He worked with the Town of Pictou for several years before taking a position with the Town of New Glasgow and in 2000 he left there for a position with the Town of Truro where he retired in 2015. In early retirement Jim was contracted for a six week term in Igloolik, Nu. and from 2017 - 2019 as SAO in Hall Beach, Nu. Jim was on many boards and committees and provided valued assistance in helping them reach their goals over the years. He was a past member of the Union of Nova Scotia Municipalities, Federation of Canadian Municipalities, Nova Scotia Police Boards to name a few.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Debbie MacCallum,Truro; sons James Lawrence Banff, Sean Michael ,Westville; daughter Jennifer Theresa ,Halifax; brother Lawrence "Larry" (Nancy), Westville; and sister Eileen Pitts ,PEI; step family Melanie MacCallum (Jon Pleckaitis), Kristie MacCallum (Albert Bowman); two cocker spaniels Sophee and Jake.
Donations in Jim’s memory can be made to, Marley’s Hope, Lake Echo, the SPCA, or the charity of your choice.
Public visitations will be held on Friday, February 12 from 6-8 pm at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. Masks are mandatory and social distancing is mandatory. His funeral service will be held 11 am Saturday at the Church of the Holy Name, Westville with Father Peter MacDonald officiating. Seating is limited so reservations are require. To reserve a seat please all 902-396-4144. The funeral service will also be streamed to the public on facebook at: Stella Maris - Holy Name Catholic Church.
